Notes: Roles-Based Intention

Re-reading this I don't neccesarily think this is a blanket-solution as much as it is a good option in the right contexts. Any true solutions will be complex and change based on the situation. It’s already obvious that capitalism isn’t working. People are looking towards new systems.

Communism won’t work.

I first realized this when reading Black Boy, by Richard Wright. I read the first half in my highschool English class, and the second half on my own. The second half of the book details his experiences as a young adult in communist groups.

He was very intelligent, academic. He was outcasted because people felt threatened by his knowledge.

As shown in Rick and Morty, intelligent people are looked down on in today’s society.

Neither will socialism.

Neither will democracy.

The reason none of these work is because of narcissism.

Narcissists are charismatic and influential. They are manipulative and abusive. They seek to control.

If none of the systems above work, what would?

A roles-based structure.

Here are the basics:

People are valued by their greatest strengths. (Also recognizing a person’s greatest strengths can also be their greatest weakness)

Here are some examples as to how it would work in today's world:

-A person is promoted at their job because their clients enjoy their work.

For example, when a person is in a difficult situation and seeking services, they don’t use services because they value the service. They go because they value the employee(s) that provide the service.

An example:

A common situation I have observed, over and over again:

A shelter, mental health service, a drop-in center, will have a few staff that care very deeply about the clients.

These staff will put their hearts and souls into the work they do helping the clients.

These staff are discouraged by their bosses.

Incompetent people are hired and promoted.

Their most valuable staff leave.

Roles based situation:

The employee would do the work that they are best equipped to do. They would do work that uses their greatest strengths.

The employees that do the most valuable work would be recognized by the people they helped, and promoted and/or given a raise based on their work.

Alternatively, instead of having employees apply for positions, employers would apply for positions. An employee would present their position to employers.

The only position that would break this is the position of a leader.

Any people who want to be leaders and hold positions of power are not equipped to hold power.

The only person who should be given the position of a leader is a person who does not want to be a leader.

This person is never charismatic.

(that was written in the context of dark triad disorders)

**noting: beware of emotions.
