5.1 End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere

(US)Potential Solutions:

Government-Level: Appropriately prosecute people who harass feminists online by laws broken. (ex. encouraging suicide is a felony)

Organization-Level: Expand assistance and protection to those who are publicly feminist such as journalists and activists, as well as regular people who became homeless for supporting intersectional feminism. This can look like sharing information resource guides, creating an emergency mutual aid fund, or even developing housing programs, shelters, and intentional communities.

Individual level:

Make/find playlists of feminist songs by genre, language, and mood. (Some of the playlists on spotify have songs that are questionable. Possibly make playlists.)

Identify social laws, cultural attitudes, and counter attitudes. Get as individual as possible, with consideration to location and demographic. (PERSONAL NOTE: ENTER SMALL DEMOGRAPHICS)

Voter Guide website idea: list judges, attorneys, and candidates and rate their record on women’s legal issues. (Potentially list everything except parental rights in cisgender-heterosexual divorces)

5.2 Eliminate all forms of violence against all women and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking and sexual and other types of exploitation

(US)Potential Solutions, Government and Organizational Level:

Legalize and regulate sex work- have optional certificates listed and taught at colleges.

Teach sex trafficking prevention to students

Educate the public on abuse (see trauma prevention)

Advance internet privacy measures and policies to prevent cyberstalking

Advance measures to eliminate revenge porn, child porn, and trafficking porn on all porn sites

Develop financial policies to prevent financial abuse and the impacts of it such as special bankruptcies that don’t appear on financial records, unrecorded removal of credit score damages, and stricter security policies on opening credit cards.

5.3

Eliminate all harmful practices, such as child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation

Increase access to education: Providing access to education can help girls and their families realize the benefits of education and reduce reliance on child marriage as a means of economic security.

Empower girls and women: Empowering girls and women to be decision-makers in their families and communities can help to shift cultural norms and reduce acceptance of child marriage.

Strengthen laws and policies: Enforcing existing laws against child marriage and implementing policies that address the root causes of the practice can be effective in reducing child marriage rates.

Encourage community involvement: Engaging community members, leaders, and religious leaders in discussions and programs about the harms of child marriage can help to shift cultural attitudes and reduce acceptance of the practice.

5.4 Recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work through the provision of public services, infrastructure and social protection policies and the promotion of shared responsibility within the household and the family as nationally appropriate

(US) Potential Solutions:

Organization-level: a service that provides the same level of care and assistance as a supportive family would.

Government-Level: Expand caregiving services, assisted living facilities, and create policies that put disability services at an equal value as medical care such as requiring the cost to be covered by insurance.

Organization-Level: Create client-owned assisted living facilities comparable to the structure of Moishe House. Care is achieved through house member support swapping, community support swapping, access of local resources, and stipends to pay for remaining caregiving or domestic work hours.

Government-Level: Expand people’s rights, right to access, and ability to enforce healthy boundaries for homeshares, live-in caregiving, accessory dwelling units, etc.

Individual-level: Develop an “it takes a village” culture of community responsibility by everyone to everyone.

5.5

Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life

5.6

Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights as agreed in accordance with the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and the Beijing Platform for Action and the outcome documents of their review conferences

5.a

Undertake reforms to give women equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to ownership and control over land and other forms of property, financial services, inheritance and natural resources, in accordance with national laws

(US)

5.b Enhance the use of enabling technology, in particular information and communications technology, to promote the empowerment of women

(US)Potential Solutions:

Advertise technology programs promoted by local libraries and ‘obama phone’ programs in women's spaces.

5.c Adopt and strengthen sound policies and enforceable legislation for the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls at all levels
